Fly-in Safaris – Tented Camps

There are many reasons to visit Namibia
Vast unspoilt spaces and scenic beauty unmarred by roads, telephone wires and other marks of civilization.  Wildlife in abundance, offering fantastic bird watching and game viewing opportunities on game drives as well as guided nature trails.  Unusual geological features such as the Fish River Canyon, Brandberg, Spitzkoppe and the unique star-shaped dune mountains at Sossusvlei. The sun, which shines at least 300 days each year. Adventure, from dune-boarding to canoeing, white river rafting, angling and diving. A diverse and friendly population who will welcome you to their home. Etosha Pan, one of the largest game reserves in Africa, and an oasis in the centre of a vast semi-desert region. The Kunene River, the source of one of Africa’s greatest waterfalls, the Ruacana.

The Namib Desert is the only desert that harbours elephant, rhino, lion and giraffe and one of the world’s oldest living plants, the welwitschia mirabilis. The oysters available at Luderitz and Swakopmund, which are regarded as among the healthiest in the world.

Namibia owes its name to the Namib Desert, a Unique geological feature re-nowned for the pristine and haunting quality of its landscape.  It is this feature that characterises the country most, and the Namib is home to some of Namibia’s top tourist destinations, notably Sossusvlei, Sandwich harbour and the Skeleton Coast Park.  Far from being lifeless and barren, the long, narrow strip of moist coastal desert supports an unusal variety of desert adapted flora and fanua, including a large number of endemic plant, bird, reptile and insect species.

Namibia’s bountiful sunshine, abundance of wildlife, scenic beauty and rich diversity of geological phenomena make the country a sought-after tourist destinations to which visitors return again and again. For sportsmen and adventurers, Namibia has much to offer.  Activities include soaring, hiking, hot-air ballooning, dune skiing, mountain biking, whiteriver rafting, hunting, abseiling, equestrian sports and excellent coastal & freshwater angling. The Central Region is dominated by Namibia’s capital, Windhoek, a small bustling city situated in an airy basin in the central highlands.  Windhoek is surrounded by the Auas Mountains to the south east, the Eros Mountains to the north east and the Khomas Hochland to the west.  The capital is often described as a city with a continental
atmosphere.  This can be ascribed to its architecture – historical building dating back to German colonial rule as well as to its cuisine, culture, dress codes and educational institutions. At the same time Windhoek has the colour, sounds and tempo of a modern African city.  Windhoek has an active and lively comminity of art and crafts people.  With over fifty types of sport being practised in Namibia, Windhoek has plenty to offer sports enthusiasts.

The Etosha national park, the third largest in Africa, owes its unique landscape to the Etosha Pan, a vast shallow depression of approximately 5 000km². A series of waterholes along the southern edge of the pan guarantee rewarding and often spectacular game viewing. Germanic influence can still be found in the country’s good road infrastructure.
The area has about 30 springs and waterholes that provide excellent game viewing and photographic opportunities which is a perfect choice for nature lovers.
